Mórahalmi néptáncosok a 116. Dužijancán

We enriched ourselves with a special cultural experience in Subotica: we accompanied the Mórahalom Folk Dance Association to the 116th Dužijanca, where the folk dancers from Mórahalom also presented themselves to the audience.

A tradition of more than a hundred years in the heart of Subotica

The Dužijanca is one of the most significant traditional events of the Bunjevac community. The celebration, connected to the completion of the harvest, simultaneously expresses gratitude for the yield, the cohesion of the community, and respect for cultural heritage.

The series of events awaits interested parties year after year with a rich program offering. The horse and trotting races, the tambura evening, the festive masses, the spectacular parades, and the folklore programs filling the center of Subotica all contribute to making Dužijanca a true community celebration.

Mórahalom's cultural values were also presented

It was an uplifting moment to see how the members of the Mórahalom Folk Dance Association became part of a tradition of more than a hundred years. With their performance, they not only showed their skills and commitment to folk dance but also represented Mórahalom's cultural values in Subotica.

The participation once again proved that folk dance is capable of connecting communities, bringing generations closer to each other, and passing on the values that form an important part of our common cultural heritage.

For us, Dužijanca 2026 meant an encounter with tradition, the cohesive power of the community, and cross-border cultural connections in the heart of Subotica.
